It's been another busy week for me preparing for the Merry May Market! It's put on by HAT's On Productions and has only handmade items. You can find me at the Town & Country Centre in Airdrie from 10am-4pm tomorrow (Saturday, May 7th).
Remember, Mother's Day is this weekend! Tomorrow is supposed to be a sunny warm day, so it will be a great time to come out and shop at the market - or for moms to send their husbands and kids out to shop! ;) Also, in light of the recent devastating forest fires and all of the people facing loss, I have been reflecting a lot this week. It hits home very closely for me as the May 15th marks the 5-year anniversary of the Slave Lake fire, which I experienced first-hand. As I saw the photos and heard the news about Fort McMurray, I was flooded with personal memories of terror, anxiety, loss, and so much more. I know exactly what it feels like to evacuate with no warning, to leave a town while watching it burn, and to return to a burned-up neighborhood. As much as one can feel through pictures and stories, there is no comparison to going through it yourself. Therefore, at the market tomorrow, I will be donating $5 for every basket sold to Red Cross in support of Fort McMurray. This is a perfect opportunity to shop for Mother's Day or any other upcoming event while also supporting other Albertans! Here's a sneak peek of just a few of the new baskets that I'll have for sale tomorrow:
