It's time to celebrate the classes of 2016!
As we finish May and get into June, there's a strong focus for many on finishing up the school year and making plans for summer and the fall. With a background in teaching, it is an exciting time for me! I especially love the excitement of those who are about to graduate. There's the little kids about to have their very first graduation from preschool or kindergarten - they look so adorable in their little caps and gowns and steal our hearts as they share what they've learned through the year and what they want to be when they grow up! Then there's the high school students and their eager anticipation to graduate from high school. They're leaving the familiar and entering a new phase, whether they're choosing to work immediately, pursue further education, or travel.
Are you celebrating with a graduate this year? Wish them all the best in their next steps with a unique gift basket! I have classic graduation-themed baskets that include grad photo frames and memorabilia, or you could go with a theme tailored to the graduate: spa/beauty or kitchen items, travel themed, car care items (especially if you know they're getting one as a gift!) or even a basket of cleaning supplies if they're moving out! There are lots of options and the graduate will be happy you were thinking of them and sharing in this special life event.
I wish all graduates the best in their future plans! May you be blessed in your endeavors.
It's been another busy week for me preparing for the Merry May Market! It's put on by HAT's On Productions and has only handmade items. You can find me at the Town & Country Centre in Airdrie from 10am-4pm tomorrow (Saturday, May 7th).
Remember, Mother's Day is this weekend! Tomorrow is supposed to be a sunny warm day, so it will be a great time to come out and shop at the market - or for moms to send their husbands and kids out to shop! ;)
Also, in light of the recent devastating forest fires and all of the people facing loss, I have been reflecting a lot this week. It hits home very closely for me as the May 15th marks the 5-year anniversary of the Slave Lake fire, which I experienced first-hand. As I saw the photos and heard the news about Fort McMurray, I was flooded with personal memories of terror, anxiety, loss, and so much more. I know exactly what it feels like to evacuate with no warning, to leave a town while watching it burn, and to return to a burned-up neighborhood. As much as one can feel through pictures and stories, there is no comparison to going through it yourself.
Therefore, at the market tomorrow, I will be donating $5 for every basket sold to Red Cross in support of Fort McMurray. This is a perfect opportunity to shop for Mother's Day or any other upcoming event while also supporting other Albertans!
Here's a sneak peek of just a few of the new baskets that I'll have for sale tomorrow:
